The Black Book of Cheating

Natuke siis Runescape bottimise ajaloost

Antud informatsioon on tõsi ja minuarust huvitav lugeda.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First - The GhostMouse was created, a simple program that revolutionized the way runescape was played.

January, 2001 - A tiny forum, RBcheats, was where everything happened. It was the first runescape cheating site with no real admins, but just members. This was where Nick resided.

Spring, 2001 - The Nick Dude [Nick] created the first ever color-picking bot, which was called AutoMiner. At the time, Nick Sherlock was a 14 year old programmer that was 100x better than anyone else in runescape. After the bot died, Vee created RuneBot, the best bot of it's time.

May, 2001 - EvilCowGod arose, and after RBcheats died, created his own forum named EvilCowGod Technologies.

Before Bovine Labs - An unknown user named Kaitnieks started a moderate sized thread describing he upcoming and god-like bot, AutoRune.

[2002] - Simple runescape bots were created, such as RuneBot. 300 players were banned because of using it. Thus, runescape cheating was made widely known.

An Honerable Mention also goes to Subanark, who created IT

When RuneBot died - Phlat created the first game-editing software, where he and a small amount of others successfully edited the amount of gp contained in their banks. This software was distributed, but worked for about 1% of the users.

September 22, 2002 - Autorune, the first scriptable runescape client, was created and distributed. It was a simple bot where it would mine east of varrock, smelt it, and then bank the bars. This was based off of the first bot ever, Autominer.

AutoRune was a client, rather than a seperate program. It ran by sending unencrypted messages to the server, like your computer would normally do so by playing the game manually.

Friday, December 22, 2002 - First ever mass ban. The mark of the birth of global runescape cheating. This also marked the death of Autorune and the cheating community

January, 2003 - The first glitch of the game ever, the knife glitch.

A player would load their inventory with a weapon and lots of knives. They would then click somewhere on the map to start walking. They would right click and drop the weapon.... but wait! Back in RSC, you had to stop before you dropped anything. This meant the weapon you clicked to drop was still in your inventory. All you had to do is right click again on the weapon and wait until you stopped walking and the item was dropped. A knife would move into the slot your weapon was in. By clicking "Wield" in the box of the weapon you just dropped, you would equip the knife instead. This would add to your weapon strength even though a knife isn’t a weapon. The more knives you had, the higher you could hit.

April, 2003 - The rebirth of the first ever cheating community, created by evil cowgod. Bovine Labs, the site, was born. When the earlier Bovine Labs died because of actual JAGEX interaction, the site was put onto IRC. This is how cheating survived.

April 09, 2003 - Autorune was fixed after dying for about 4 months. It returned at revision 2.3

April 10, 2003 - The Runescape Cheating fictional orgy. The Bovine Labs forum exploded with members, all willing to cheat. This marks the start of the first mass distributed bot.

Easter, 2003 - Runescape releases the first non-tradable holiday drop. This gave runescape cheaters less to work with.

Somewhere between April and May [2003] - 2nd death of autorune. There was no mass ban, but the first runescape client update. JAGEX encrypted all messages coming to and from the servers, making it impossible to have AutoRune run.

While AutoRune was dead [2003] - During this time, the first Black Market is set up to help members cope while there was no working bot.

Also while AutoRune was dead [2003] - ARYAN. Many scripters at the time never knew what the creator or AutoRune was going to do, so they tried to take the problem into their own hands. One of the most successful bots was created, that almost topped AutoRune. ARYAN was created and sustained in private forums among other individuals.

Sometime after the death of AutoRune [2003] - A new beta program is released, to offset the downtime of AutoRune. It was created to calm down the cheating community, which gained it's reputation by destructive members scamming and cheating the community and other members. It wasnt meant to be a good program, but one made in a short amount of time. It was labeled, "Shit Compared to AutoRune" It was the Second ever color-picking bot. This formally became known as SCAR.

Shortly after SCAR's creation [2003] - AutoRune was fixed but never formally released again. It was contained in a private IRC chat, with a private forum for intelligent individuals where other scripts for seperate skills could be exchanged. AutoRune survived for a long time.

August, 2003 - Sleepwalker. Fatigue was introduced into the game earlier on, but now to try and stop the cheaters, JAGEX added what is now known as a CAPCHA to the game to wake up from sleeping. Of course coders found a way around this, and incorporated the Sleepwalker Bot to their scripts.

November 6th-7th, 2003 - Firstly discovered by SixFeetUnder, the new AutoRune's feature of autotrading was found to also be able to duplicate items. Duping came out before the division of the original Runescape into the two forms we now play today. In short, here is how it works:

Every item in Runescape, from a bronze dagger to a party hat, has an identification number. In duping, this ID# is copied, creating a multiple of the original item. For example, the ID# for a rune 2-handed sword is 81. When you are finished, the original sword and the duped sword will both have an ID# of 81. This way, JAGEX cannot tell which items are duped and which are not.

The dupers went around cracking christmas crackers on random people, and dropping rares in crowded places. Hundreds of party hats, dragon squares, dragon mediums, and other rare items were created and distributed throughout Runescape that day.

Jagex was forced to guess which items were real and which items were not. Naturally, party hats were the item of choice to duplicate. The price of party hats dropped to around 200k each. Most people were trying to sell, but some started stocking up on hats. At the end of that day, some people lost millions, while others gained just as much. At the time, pink party hats were the most valuable of the six. Within 24 hours, pink hats lost almost all of their net value (13 million gp down to 200k), and are now referred to as “purple party hats”.

After JAGEX's cleanup of Item Duplicating [2003] - AutoRune was tested to find other bugs. Various were discovered, mainly being:

1. You could cast spells without runes nor a target, enabling extremely fast magic leveling.

2. You could create women with beards.

3. You could attack and kill yourself in the wilderness.

4. You could create a character without any body or physical representation. (A dot would still appear on the minimap and the normal options would show up when the creation was hovered over with a mouse.

Right Before December - The now IRC maintained Bovine Labs cheating community merged with RS Cheating Network, or RSCN.

December, 2003 - The AutoRune source code and all rights were sold to Josh (APD). Josh wasn't as loved by the community because he was well known as a scammer and started to sell accounts again for both money and GP.

January 02, 2004 - Second Mass Ban. The creator of AutoRune (Jut) had created a public authorization server that released AutoRune to all who wanted to bot. More than the first amount of AutoRuner's were banned, and this marked the death of AutoRune for good.

Slightly after the death of AutoRune [2004] - AsheyRune. After obtaining the Source Code for AutoRune, APD's computer was keylogged. (APD = Josh) The Source Code was now in the hands of many intelligent people. One of the handlers, Buckna, fixed the code to work with the Runescape client. He released AsheyRune, an edited version of the stolen code. This bot went on for some time, but was eventually killed by Runescape updates.

March 29, 2004 - Runescape ends the beta version of Runescape 2. New bots were made to work with the enhanced graphics and were specially designed to make the change from v1 to v2 of runescape more profitable.

Spring, 2004 - ARYAN dies. There is now no commonly distributed, successfully working bot besides SCAR.

After the death of ARYAN [2004] - Rs2Cheating.com opens, one of the first sources for working RS autos. These werent clients, but scriptable programs that were made to work outside of the Runescape client.

March 25, 2004 - Staking. JAGEX adds the dueling and staking additions to Runescape 2, which makes the black markets soar on cheating sites.

The Gap between 2004-2006 - Runescape cheating flourished, and many other programs were created that advanced what we know of cheating today. SCAR was updated, and created better scripts. It became the best bot around.

May 31, 2006 - The release of the Construction Skill. Later on, this lead to a GP duplicating glitch, where you were able to put money into a chest in your house, log out for a period of time, and then log back in to find the amount was doubled. This wasnt very publicised, and was fixed fairly quickly.

June 6, 2006 - The 6/6/06 Falador Massacre. Durial321 heard about Cursed You getting to 99 construction, so he showed up. Upon leaving his house party, [he was booted] he found that he was able to attack other players. This was one of the largest single bug abuses ever, and it was widely publicised. He obtained a Green Partyhat in his massacre. Also, Durial was never banned. His account is still locked.

September 26, 2006 - The Password Cracking phenomenon. The very first released download of a password cracking program. This was able to be used because of the way the runescape login page was.

2008-2009- - Rsbot.org, Rsbots.net. Two of the most known and used bots.
